When and where this clue pays off

Two questions matter more than the pattern itself: does this clue give you everything now, or only later — and does it become a mark on the board, or a note you have to keep separately?

Partly settles now, partly later

Split it into its two facts first. Each half then behaves however that kind of fact normally behaves, some immediate, some not.

Partly on the board, partly a note

Depends on the two facts inside it. Mark whichever half is direct, and track the other by its own rule.
