Rank Window Elimination
Reading an offset or gap clue for every value that has no valid partner at the required distance, not just the pair it directly restricts.
Why it works
An exact-offset clue doesn't just link two items. It rules out an entire band of values at each end of the scale, wherever no partner exists at the right distance.
Trigger
An exact-difference, gap, or offset clue on an ordered category.
Common mistake
Eliminating only the values right next to the stated offset, and missing the wider band the offset actually excludes.
Example
'The red item costs $10 more than Wilma's' removes every price for red with no match $10 below it, and every price for Wilma with no match $10 above.
